Who are We?
Here at Western Region Health, our headache and migraine clinic headed by Dr Jarryd Crisp (Osteo) is a branch of WRH specifically targeting headache and migraine management. Lead by Jarryd C, his additional training, specific skillset, combined with personal insight and experience with headaches and migraines helps deliver the highest quality care for all of his patients. Jarryd knows all too well how debilitating headaches and migraines can be, so there is no better person to speak to about these conditions.
Our Approach
Jarryd’s approach in treating headaches and migraines is multi- faceted. Although research suggests that the cause of migraine is not well understood, it is suggested the trigeminocervical complex (TCC) plays a significant role in migraine onset. The TCC is located in the central nervous system, specifically in the brainstem and upper cervical spinal cord. Increased sensory input into this region can cause sensitisation/overstimulation of the TCC which can trigger intense headaches and neurological symptoms characteristic of a migraine.
Jarryd’s approach aims to reduce the sensitisation of the TCC and address a wide range of factors such as reduced muscle activation, cervical spine and jaw dysfunction, and the relationship these have to additional lifestyle factors including sleep quality, hydration, stress and nutrition.
